It is a fact that Philippines is an archipelago. You can get to different parts of the country by water or by air. However, this contributes to the adventure to your trip. It might be a little hassle but beautiful things also happen along the way – you get to really connect with nature, meet wonderful people and know that after a tiresome trip, it is all worth it.
The country has so many hidden gems. These hidden gems offer a lot – from beautiful white sand beaches, waterfalls, lakes, mountains and many others. One of these hidden gems is the Isla del Fuego (Island of Fire), the Siquijor Island.
Siquijor Island belongs to Region VII – Central Visayas. If you happen to be from other countries, you can book a flight to Mactan International Airport (Cebu), Panglao International Airport (Bohol), or Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila).
If you choose to land in Manila, you have to choose in which of the four (4) ways:
- Book a flight to Dumaguete**
- Take a ferry from Manila to Dumaguete** – This will send you to Dumaguete and might take more than 24 hours. However, it is much cheaper than taking an airplane.
- Book a flight to Panglao International Airport*

If you choose to land in Mactan International Airport (Cebu), you have to choose in which of the six (6) ways:
Mactan Airport accommodates International and Domestic flights. From the airport, you have 4 choices – (1) to ride a ferry barge straight from Cebu to Larena, Siquijor; (2) ride a barge from Cebu to Dumaguete; (3) to ride a bus direct from Cebu to Dumaguete; (4) ride a bus from Cebu City to Liloan; (5) take a flight from Mactan to Dumaguete; or (6) take a flight direct from Mactan to Siquijor
- Ferry (Cebu – Larena, Siquijor)
From the airport, you may ride taxi (just tell the driver that you are going to Pier 1), or you may take MyBus and it will take you off to SM. From SM, take an easyride to Pier 1.
- Route: Cebu City to Tagbilaran, Bohol to Larena, Siquijor.
- Trips Schedule: 1 PM every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday)
- Cost: 400 Php
- Barge (Cebu – Dumaguete)**
From the airport, you may ride taxi (just tell the driver that you are going to Pier 1), or MyBus and it will take you off to SM. From SM, take an easyride to Pier 1.
- Route: Cebu City to Larena, Siquijor.
- Trips Schedule:

- Bus (direct from Cebu to Dumaguete)**
From the airport, you may ride taxi (just tell the driver that you are going to Pier 1), or you may take MyBus and it will take you off to SM. From SM, take an easyride to South Bus Terminal.
- Route: Cebu City to Dumaguete City.
- Trips Schedule: Daily
- Cost: 240 Php
- Bus (Cebu to Liloan)
From the airport, you may ride taxi (just tell the driver that you are going to Pier 1), or you may take MyBus and it will take you off to SM. From SM, take an easyride to Cebu South Bus Terminal.
- Route: Cebu City to Liloan
- Duration: more or less 4 hours depending on the traffic and frequency of stops
- Cost: more or less 150 Php
From Liloan, you can ride a fast craft to Sibulan. It costs 62 pesos and takes you to Sibulan port in 20 minutes. From Sibulan port, you can ride an easyride or pedicab to Dumaguete City. Easyride fare is only 10 pesos while pedicab fare is a bit pricely compared to easyride fare depending on your negotiation with the driver. Just tell the driver to take you to Dumaguete Port.**
- Airplane (Cebu – Dumaguete)
All you have to do is book another flight to Dumaguete. It will arrive at Sibulan Airport. From there, you can ride van or pedicab to Dumaguete Port**.
- Airplane (Cebu – Siquijor)
Book a flight direct from Cebu to Siquijor through AirJuan, the only airplane that may land in Siquijor. This only takes 40 mins.

If you choose to land in Panglao International Airport (Bohol), you have to choose in which of the two (2) ways:
- Travel from the airport to Tagbilaran City Ferry Port. Take a ferry from there to Larena, Siquijor.
- From the airport, travel to Tagbilaran City Ferry Port. Take a ferry to Dumaguete City**

Dumaguete City, the City of Gentle People, is known for being a portal to its neighboring islands. But aside from being a portal, Dumaguete also has a lot to offer to tourists, most especially when it comes to food. If you happen to visit this lovely island, you must try their delicacy – the Silvanas, which is only available in Sans Rival. It is located just along the Rizal Boulevard.
Trips from Dumaguete City to Siquijor varies in duration from 45 mins. to 1 hr and 30 mins depending on the vessel. The cost ranges from 100 pesos to 250 pesos, again, depending on the vessel. The fastest is the Ocean Jet, which takes 45 mins to Siquijor, is also the most expensive one. The 100 pesos is when you take Aleson. The trips are from 5:30 AM to 6 PM. You have many choices – Ocean Jet (fast craft), JL Shipping Lines (fast craft and pump boats), Aleson Shipping Lines (fast craft and ro-ro), and Montenegro (ro-ro). You can take any vessel convenient to your time of arrival and your choice. Ticketing offices are located inside the port except for Ocean Jet’s, which is located along the high way.
Before entering the terminal, you have to pay 15 pesos for terminal fee. You may pay near the entrance of terminal.
